Heacham Manor Golf Course
Temporary Rules 18th April 2010
Welcome to Heacham Manor, thank you for choosing to play at Heacham Manor Golf Club, we hope that you enjoy your golf here and that you understand as a young golf course there are a number of area that are still maturing and being worked on.
Included below is a list of temporary rules that have been developed in consultation with the Norfolk County Golf Union. These rules will help you to enjoy the course as much as possible and to help us develop and protect the course.
· Preferred lies: A ball lying on a closely-mown area through the green may be lifted, without penalty, and cleaned. Before lifting the ball, the player must mark its position. Having lifted the ball, he must place it on a spot within 6 inches of and not nearer the hole than where it originally lay, that is not a hazard and not on a putting green.
A Player may place his ball only once, and it is in play when it has been placed (Rule 20-4). If the ball fails to come to rest on the spot on which it is placed, Rule 20-3 applies. If the ball when placed comes to rest on the spot on which it is places and it subsequently moves, there is no penalty and the ball must be played as it lies.
If the player fails to mark the position of the ball before lifting or moves the ball in any other manner, such as rolling it with a club, he incurs a penalty of one stroke.
Note: ‘Closely-mown area’ means any area of the course, including paths through the rough cut to fairway height or less.
· Stones on the course: Are movable obstructions under Rule 24-1 and a player may take relief, without penalty from a movable obstruction.
· Ground Under Repair (GUR): The young plantation areas and other areas defined by stakes are ground under repair from which play is prohibited. If a player’s ball lies in the area, or if it interferes with the players stance or the area of his intended swing, the player must take relief under Rule 25-1. Please note gorse bushes are not included in young plantations.
GUR as defined by white lines: If a player’s ball lies in the area, or if it interferes with the players stance or the area of his intended swing, the player may take relief under Rule 25-1.
· Roads, paths and Irrigation lines: In addition to the carrstone track across the course, relief may be taken under 24-2b from irrigation lines, roads and paths not having artificial surfaces and sides if they could unfairly affect play (this includes all damaged grass areas where vehicles have tracked during wetter conditions).
· Rough: You must play your ball as it lies in all rough areas unless defined as GUR.
· Out of bounds: Please note the white stakes on the left of the 18th fairway are out of bounds for the 18th off the tee only and do not affect play on the 16th or 17th.
